Terms of Service
Last updated 15 October 2026
These terms govern your use of krei (the "service") — the AI coding agent in your terminal and in the web chat, and the website at krei.ai. krei is operated by Irfan Erol, a sole proprietor established in Turkey ("we", "us"). By creating an account, subscribing, or running the CLI, you agree to them.
01
The service
krei is an AI coding agent — in the web chat at chat.krei.ai and in your terminal. It reads the code and material you point it at, plans changes, edits files, and runs commands. You decide what it may touch, and you are responsible for reviewing every change before you rely on it.
02
Who can use it
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract. If you use krei for an organisation, you confirm you may bind it to these terms.
03
Accounts and keys
You sign in with one of the providers offered at /account/login. Your account has one API key at a time; rotating it from your account page stops the old one working. Treat the key like a password — anyone who has it can spend your plan's allowance. Tell us at once if you think it has leaked.
04
Plans and payment
Paddle is the seller of record. Subscriptions are sold by our reseller Paddle (Paddle.com Market Limited or its affiliate for your location), which handles checkout, payment, invoices and sales tax. Paddle's buyer terms govern the purchase, including tax, cancellation and refunds; these terms govern the service itself.
There are two plans, Starter and Pro, billed monthly or yearly. Prices are shown before you pay; Paddle adds VAT or sales tax at checkout for your location. You can cancel at any time in the Paddle customer portal (linked from /account/billing); cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then. Refunds are covered on the refund policy.
05
The spend cap — no overages
Each plan includes a monthly credit allowance that refills every 30 days, and three rolling spend caps (5-hour, 7-day, 30-day). When the allowance or a cap is used up, further model calls are refused with HTTP 402 until it refills; a single request that would overrun the cap mid-stream is cut off. These limits are enforced on our servers.
You are never charged more than your plan price plus the tax shown at checkout. There are no overage charges, and we do not sell prepaid credit or top-ups.
06
Using your own key
The terminal client can run against your own OpenAI-compatible model endpoint instead of a krei plan (krei login --byok). In that mode your provider's terms, prices and bills apply, and our spend cap does not. Your key is stored on your machine in ~/.krei/config.json, readable only by your user (file mode 0600), and is sent only to the endpoint you named. Model requests go straight from your machine to that endpoint: we never see or store your key or that traffic.
07
AI output
krei's output is generated by third-party AI models. It can be wrong, incomplete, insecure, or similar to existing code, and it can change or delete files and run commands you approved. It is not professional advice. Review it, test it, keep backups and version control, and do not rely on it where a mistake could cause harm.
Between you and us, what you put in and what krei generates for you is yours; we claim no ownership of it. You are responsible for having the rights to the material you give krei.
08
Acceptable use
Do not use krei to:
- break the law or infringe anyone's rights;
- write or deploy malware, or probe, attack or gain access to systems you are not authorised to test;
- generate content that sexualises minors, harasses people, or incites violence;
- get around the spend caps, rate limits, metering or authentication, or overload the service;
- resell access, or share one subscription or key among several people;
- break the usage policies of the model's provider.
09
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close an account, or revoke a key, that breaks these terms, puts the service or other users at risk, or is used fraudulently. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix it. Access to the paid service ends when your subscription is no longer active. You can stop using krei at any time; to have your data deleted, see the privacy policy.
10
Open-source components
The krei core and terminal client are licensed under Apache-2.0. That licence, not these terms, governs your use of that source code.
11
Warranty and liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties beyond those the law requires. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — such as lost work, lost profits or broken builds — and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid for the service in the 12 months before it arose.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or any liability or consumer right that the law does not allow to be limited.
12
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Turkey, and the courts of Turkey have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence, and you may also bring a claim in the courts where that law allows.
13
Changes
We may change these terms. We will post the new version here with its date and tell account holders of material changes in advance; continued use after they take effect means you accept them. If you do not, cancel before they take effect.
